Thinking Of Getting Into Master Degree Online Programs?
March 7th, 2008    Subscribe To Our FeedBeing in college was one of the best times that I have ever had. If I could, I would do it all again. Nonetheless, when I was done with it, I had to go straight into the workforce. I had a lot of bills to pay, and getting a college masters degree was out of the question. I simply didn’t have the money. Nonetheless, a few years down the line I started to wish that I had found a way to do it. With a bachelors in psychology, there is only so much you can do. If you want to get far in that particular career field, you really need advanced schooling. Still, I had bills to pay and couldn’t go to a full-time institution.
One of my friends had recently received her masters degree online. I have heard of online Master degree programs, of course, but I had assumed there was not much to them. I never seriously looked into them, you see. Everyone hears a story is now and then about some of the paper mills that offer spurious masters degrees online that aren’t worth the paper they’re printed on. What get less press, however, are all of the legitimate institutions where you really can get an online college degree.
You see, masters degree online – just like regular Masters degree programs – vary greatly in their details. There are quite a few intelligent, well-educated adults out there who simply don’t have time to go to classes full-time. The best Masters degree online programs are geared towards these professionals. They offer a certification that is worth something – something that will be respected by any potential future employers. It takes hard work and dedication to get through the classes, but if you are willing to put in the effort you can reap the rewards.
Honestly, I think that my masters degree online might have been harder than my undergraduate work was. There was less to do, of course, but I had to fit it into my busy schedule. I really worked to get that degree, and the rewards were tangible. Soon, I was getting job offers far beyond what I had been qualified to do before. I was making more money, having a more rewarding career, and in general just enjoy myself better. When I look back on it, it was worth all the work. I feel like I’m finally moving somewhere in my life.

Getting An Environmental Science Degree
February 19th, 2008    Subscribe To Our FeedI was the first person in my family – and to date the only person in my family – to get an environmental sciences degree. It was not a move without controversy. My parents are pretty progressive people – far from Republicans – but even so they have some conventional ideas of what they want their kids to do. I could have been a doctor, a lawyer, a businessman, an accountant, or any other high-paying profession. Having an environmental science degree – at least in their opinion – was not a good use of my time in college. They figured that people with environmental science degrees spent their life broke, drifting from one low-paying job to the other.
I admit that my environmental science degree does not earn me as much money as a degree in law would, but it has allowed me to live comfortably and do something that I am interested in. Even a decade ago, it was much more difficult to earn a living with environmental science degrees, but as climate change becomes more and more recognized, people with an environmental sciences backgrounds are more and more sought-after. As a matter of fact, if you go to one of the more prestigious environmental studies programs, you can work pretty much anywhere that you want. You can practically write your own job description!
Nonetheless, unless you are passionate about the environment, there is no point in getting an environmental science degree. Funding is difficult, varying greatly from year to year, and there are easier career paths. For me, it took a lot of soul-searching to decide that this was what I wanted to do. I knew that, if I wasn’t passionate about it, it would make a lot more sense for me to study something more conventional. After all, everyone likes to make good money.
I actually finally made up my mind about the environmental science degree on a trip to the woods. I was camping out with some friends, getting away from classes for a few days to decompress between semesters. I was lying there by a forest brook, just watching the trees moving in the wind, when I knew what I wanted to spend my life doing. I loved that forest like I loved all forests, and I wanted to do everything that I could to protect them. The environmental science degree has helped me to really make a difference.

Education Loan Funding And How Personal Or Federal Education Loan Helps In Your Education
November 23rd, 2007    Subscribe To Our FeedEducation loan funding are a blessing in disguise, what with the costs of college for four years almost as high as the purchase of a nice car or, say, probably half a house in suburbia. And personal education loan is not just for high-end superachievers who need only one alternative or supplement to their jobs. There are a variety of venues from which to acquire the loan funds for school. Here are the first four sources from which you can obtain a college fund loan.
FEDERAL EDUCATION LOANS – such loan comes in two kinds, need-based (like the Stafford Loan, with affordable, low interest rates, deductions, and discounts) and non-need-based (like the Federal Plus Loan, a loan for parents with undergraduate student children, with borrowing allowances up to 100% of the total college costs, with discounts, and with tax-deductible features) are probably the most affordable education loans for most.
I tout the benefits of going the government student loan route because I have seen hundreds of needful students benefit from such loan: students who have only one living parent have been granted monies for finishing the college education; students with elder or aging parents have been awarded loans to continue their excellent work; and students who are on their own have been provided with loaned government money that helped them get through the rigors of college programs when the money was important enough to distract them when they didn’t have it.
PRIVATE EDUCATION LOANS – such fundings are student loans for students going to private k-12 schools or private colleges, loans which can take the place of or supplement federal aid. And with deferred interest while students are still in school studying, budget-friendly repayment options, and smooth application processes, private education loans make for a viable option.
TEEN ESTEEM LOANS – this program is started by the Teen Esteem Foundation to reduce teenage drug abuse, pregnancy, and suicide. These are offered by the primary loan institutions who also emphasize involved, concerned support of families and who offer a smooth-going financial aid process.
COLLEGE CONSOLIDATION LOANS – are those loans which are available after college educaiton: they help the borrower/graduate reduce payments on education loans by enabling them to combine all of the educational loans together using one loan institution. And even better for those who have already consolidated their debt loan, some loan sources enable the borrower to refinance the loans at the more current and more affordable rate(s). So be sure to ask!!!
That is, once you wrap your brain around the numbers, percentages, statistics, and requirements, and once you have an eye on the most beneficial of education loans plan, ask as many questions as you need to before you sign on that dotted line. And while you’re filling out forms (of which, be forewarned, there are many), start filling out scholarship applications at the same time, too!

Student Assignment Book - A Crucial Bit of Possession For Any Student
August 27th, 2007    Subscribe To Our FeedThe student assignment book is one of the most crucial possessions of any student, it is every bit as important as pen and paper. To be a successful student, every day note down what you have to do, what you have done, what your schedule is, and any other important information. My student assignment book is just bursting with information, not just school information and report dates, quizes, etc., but also a schedule of my social life with dates, social activities, my soccer games, baseball games, band practice, church group, and anything else I may need to be successful in completing everything that I plan.
There is an art to managing a student assignment book. It is not quite so simple as it looks. Make sure that you right down everything that is important, but not too much detail – that will just clutter your assignment book and make it confusing and hard to read. Write down just enough to jog your memory and remind yourself of what you have to get things done. This way, you’ll have a clear, easy to follow list in your assignment book that is not at all overwhelming. Another thing you can do with your student assignment book is to cross out things that you have finished, so that you can see what you still need to get done. For ongoing projects, you can use orgnaizer tabs to remind you to come back to a spot and complete the project.
One of the most important things you can do is to always complete projects in time rom your student assignment book. When you have always been getting done what you are supposed to, it is easy to keep up and life is light and joyous, but when you have lots of half finished threads of things hanging over your head, it can get very frustrating very quickly. Don’t let the pressure build up; always finish what you’ve started. I used to be seriously unorganized, my room was a mess, and I never knew where anything was so I’m telling you, the biggest favor that you can do for yourself is to keep your workspace organized neatly and not let things build up like they tend to sometimes. A clean efficient space prompts clean efficient thoughts, and these thoughts are just what you require to be a productive, successful, and organized student. And the skills you develop by being organized will arry you far beyond highschool, and well into your professional career life. The habits you build now of keeping track of what you need to do and of getting it done will certainly help you for the rest of your life.
